new Access Method based on CAML?

I'd like to create an object which inherits from SPaListItem<T> which allows me to get a collection based on CAML
it seems like the toolkit wants integerID so i'd have to dip twice into the object model or data layer.

Was this the intent... I see that SPaList has a collections object if I wanted all list items.

Famous,

The initial usage pattern is that a list of items had already been returned and used (maybe in grid or soemthing). Then, a user selecting an item in teh grid would result in the item item (and list id and web) being passed to the code. The code would get the list item data using the id.

As you observed, the API doesn't have a method of passing a query. However, if I do add it, i think it would be more appropriate on a list class because a query could return multiple items. SPaListItem<T> is design for manipulating a single item.
